Sterile Processing Technician (SPD) Lead

1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, 12:30pm-9:00pm. Position involves ordering instruments, building and updating tray lists, logging instruments, and handling repair instruments for the Main, East and occasional Kaukauna sites.

Responsibilities

Acts as a resource to employees, including training/orienting, day-to-day work direction, and performance input; Assists with human resource responsibilities such as interviewing, selection, orientation, staff development, performance feedback, and resolving employee concerns; Monitors general department operations, establishes work schedules, and issues daily work assignments; Receives, sorts, cleans, sterilizes, packages and quality-tests instruments and equipment using aerator, gas, steam sterilizers and glass dryer; Ensures proper care and handling of high-cost instrumentation and equipment; Hand cleans miscellaneous instruments and operates the cart cleaner; Checks incoming trays and follows up on missing instruments or parts; Receives or picks up case carts and delivers them to the operating room; Takes immediate action if sterilizer failure occurs; Orders instruments for the Main, East and occasional Kaukauna sites; Builds and updates tray lists in SPM; Logs ordered and received instruments and repair instruments in spreadsheets; Requests new instruments in the ordering system; Sends out repair instruments; Works with vendors and coordinators on quotes

Requirements

Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued by HSPA, or Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification issued by CBSPD, or Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) certification issued by CBSPD; High School Graduate; Typically requires 3 years of experience in sterile processing; Thorough knowledge of sterilization principles and requirements, inventory and asset management, and quality assurance activities; Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills; Ability to function in a stressful and fast-paced environment; Must stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist and reach above shoulders throughout the workday; Must lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead and up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; Must push/pull with 20 lbs. of force and push/pull objects weighing 200+ lbs.
