Stop Loss: Group Underwriting (Various Levels)

Voya’s Employee Benefits division is seeking Stop Loss Underwriters to evaluate employer group medical stop loss submissions and support underwriting decisions for both new business and renewal opportunities. This role analyzes risk and pricing factors, including group demographics, claim experience, large claimant activity, participation, plan design, contract terms, funding arrangements, and overall profitability, while ensuring proposed stop loss coverage aligns with underwriting guidelines and can be effectively administered. The underwriter partners with internal teams, field personnel, brokers, and clients to gather information, communicate decisions, and support competitive, financially sound solutions across the stop loss book of business. Successful candidates bring strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and clear communication skills, with responsibilities and approval authority increasing by level.

Responsibilities

Requirements

0–2 years of underwriting experience (Associate); 3–4 years of group underwriting or voluntary benefits experience (Senior); 5–8 years of underwriting experience (Lead); strong analytical judgment; attention to detail; problem-solving ability; clear communication skills
