Technical Assistant (Float)

Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. The Float Pool (FP) Technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. The FP technician will receive assignments as delegated by the RN. The FP Technician will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient’s needs relative to this information. The technician will provide care based on established policies and procedures. The FP Technician performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.

Responsibilities

Provides patient care services; Cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment; Applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control; Receives assignments as delegated by the RN; Performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned; Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment; Organizes supplies and equipment as needed; Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures; Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques; Adheres to safety measures

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Nice to have

2 years of acute inpatient or emergency technician experience; CNA, Phlebotomy, ECG Tech, or EMT; Phlebotomy; ECG course/certification; medical terminology
