Technician 1 - Data Centers

The Technician I assists with the installation, maintenance, and support of structured cabling systems within data center environments. This entry-level position works under direct supervision to perform basic tasks and supports the project team in ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient work practices. This role provides a foundation for growth within the structured cabling and telecommunications field.

Responsibilities

Follow Safe Work Practices; Assist in the installation and routing of copper and fiber cabling in data centers and commercial environments; Support the setup, organization, and cleanup of work areas, tools, and materials; Follow Safety, Quality, and Production standards, codes, and industry best practices; Read and follow basic project drawings, specifications, and installation instructions under supervision; Assist with labeling, cable dressing, and documentation of completed work; Maintain compliance with customers' Safety, Quality, Security, and Site Access policies; Work closely with senior technicians to learn installation best practices; Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure project goals are met

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; OSHA 10 certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire; First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire; Ability to listen carefully, follow instructions, and complete assigned tasks accurately; Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork; Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively; Positive attitude and willingness to learn; Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment; Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as required; Strong attention to detail; Ability to lift, move, and carry materials safely as required; Reliable transportation to and from job sites; Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English

Nice to have

0 to 2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or construction; Basic understanding of copper and fiber cabling; BICSI or Fiber Optic Association training or certification
