Provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) as assigned throughout the University to patients, their families and others.

Responsibilities

Provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) as assigned throughout the University to patients, their families and others; Provides required interpretation at scheduled times or upon emergency request; Receives assignment of appointments and may schedule appointments for provision of interpretation; Maintains required records; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Associate's degree required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Registry Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Membership upon hire required

Nice to have

Experience interpreting in a health care setting preferred; Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Certification or RID Certification upon hire preferred
