Assistant Meat Manager

Assists the Meat Manager in day-to-day operations of the meat department, including merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement, and customer service, and performs Meat Manager duties in their absence. Supervises associates within the department.

Responsibilities

Promotes excellent customer relations and helps resolve customer concerns; Takes customer orders over the phone or in person; Ensures fresh quality merchandise using proper product handling techniques; Assists Meat Manager in day-to-day functions of meat operations and performs duties of Meat Manager in their absence; Coordinates sales and merchandising plans to ensure proper stock levels and freshness; Monitors competitor activity concerning merchandising, pricing, quality, and comparison signage; Oversees department inventories and weekly sales reports; Assists with scheduling department associates, training, and recognizing performance; Manages inventory levels and reviews orders; Checks and verifies department deliveries and invoices; Controls department expenses, labor costs, and losses due to damages, spoilage, and shrink; Keeps meat department cases well stocked and appealing; Sets up displays and rotates product; Weighs, wraps, and prices merchandise; Maintains logs for freshness and quality; Maintains backroom and receiving area security, organization, and sanitation; Supervises associates within the department in partnership with or absence of the department manager; Uses required personal protective equipment

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Minimum (2) years' experience in management in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment; Must be able to cut and trim product; Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation

Associate or bachelor's degree in business related or food service-related field; Meat management experience
