Deck Supervisor

Summary: Manages assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents/guardians. Exhibits expert-level knowledge of all levels of the GSS curriculum. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices.

Responsibilities

Managing assigned shift including supervision of on-deck employees; maintaining pool environment; interacting with students and parents/guardians; exhibiting expert-level knowledge of GSS curriculum; demonstrating thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices; providing leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to instructors and deck teachers; conducting daily pre-shift meetings and preparing the deck for the shift; conducting periodic evaluations of instructors and deck teachers; interacting with parents/guardians to discuss student progress; acting as a GSS ambassador to ensure customer satisfaction; completing daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitoring student attendance; coordinating tasks required to ensure cleanliness of the pool facility; arranging replacements for absent employees; maintaining appropriate levels of chemicals for the pool environment; acting as substitute swim instructor when necessary; suggesting areas for improvement and implementing corrective action through in-services or other training; participating in training/in-services as required; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Ability to work with children; Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills; Must pass background examinations (included with training)

Nice to have

Two or more years as a swim instructor; Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher; Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
