Elementary School Teacher-Part-Time

The Elementary Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Elementary Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Elementary Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system. This is a part-time hourly position up to 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Delivering specific course content in an online environment; Providing instruction, support, and guidance, managing the learning process, and focusing on students’ individual needs; Monitoring student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system; Providing rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students; Differentiating instruction based on student level of mastery; Augmenting course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools; Maintaining grade book ensuring student academic integrity, making student placement and promotion decisions, and alerting administrators to concerns about student performance and progress; Preparing students for high stakes standardized tests; Establishing and maintaining positive rapport with families and regularly communicating with and responding to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner; Supporting learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment; Traveling up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school

Requirements

Must have State Certification in Florida, West Virginia OR Georgia; Appropriate state Department of Education Elementary School Teaching Certification Required; Bachelor's degree; Active state teaching license; Ability to clear required background check; Ability to work independently; Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday; Open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.; Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions; Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers; Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes; Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint; Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to modern technologies and teaching platforms; Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum

Experience working with proposed age group; Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology; Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment; Experience with online learning platforms
