HLTA / Senior Teaching Assistant – SEMH School in Esher

A brand-new specialist school opening in Esher is looking for confident and experienced education professionals to join its founding team. The school will support pupils aged 7–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), providing a structured, nurturing environment where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

Responsibilities

Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide classroom cover when required; Support pupils across Key Stages on a 1:1, small-group and whole-class basis; Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning and meet individual needs; Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop confidence and resilience; Contribute to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment

Requirements

Previous experience as an HLTA, experienced Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or Unqualified Teacher; Confident leading learning and managing groups of pupils independently; Proactive, adaptable and resilient approach; Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people; Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa; Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks; Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
