Mandarin Teacher - Nursery setting

Do you have Mandarin as your mother tongue and are passionate about teaching Mandarin to young children? Position for a Mandarin Teacher for Early Years in our nursery in Paddington. This is a permanent position, full-time 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The chosen candidate will be the Mandarin teacher for children aged 1.5 months to 4 years old. Mandarin teachers teach Mandarin through play and activities to children; children learn through participating in activities and day-to-day interactions. The teacher must only use Mandarin when speaking to the children. The role also includes important administrative duties such as supervising children, organising and preparing activities and materials, recording children's progress, writing observations, weekly diaries, and reports for parents.

Responsibilities

Teaching Mandarin through play and activities to children; Using only Mandarin when speaking to the children; Supervising children in their daily activities; Organising and preparing activities and materials; Assisting with settling in new children following the Settling in Policy; Taking the children through the classroom materials; Recording relevant information in relation to children's progress; Writing observations for the children; Providing weekly individual diaries for the parents; Writing reports for the parents twice a year; Organising and preparing art activities for younger children

Requirements

Mandarin as mother tongue; Passionate about teaching Mandarin to young children; Understanding children; Great people skills including the ability to communicate effectively with parents; Good level of spoken and written English; Competent IT skills (Word, email); Confidence to put into practice what you know; Openness to be told/learn how to improve; Empathy and patience for children who are not yet speaking, or are struggling to do something; Great listening skills; Problem-solving & a positive can-do attitude; Resilient (strong) yet also caring and great empathy; Able to take constructive criticism; Able to be self-reflective to improve constantly

Nice to have

At least one year experience in childcare, preferably in a nursery setting; Early Years qualification
