PATHS Program Counselor

PATHS Therapeutic After School Program Fall 2026, Mt. Hope Family Center. This program is a clinical intervention designed to build social skills and emotion identity and development with children ages 6-11 from the city of Rochester, some of whom have histories of complex trauma and/or behavioral challenges. Counselors work directly with the children developing and implementing the Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PATHS) skills curriculum and problem solving any needs that may arise. Training is required for program participation and will be held on 9/2, 9/9, 9/14, 9/16, 9/17 from 3:30pm-8:00pm. Program will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9/21/2026-12/9/2026.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with co-counselors to plan and implement classroom lessons utilizing the PATHS Curriculum for classroom of 6 assigned children, including managing behaviors, using behavior management and reward system; Participate in group and individual supervision meetings with direct supervisor; Bus monitoring to support safe and efficient transportation of children to and from program; Group lesson planning and preparation, meeting one time per week face to face with co-counselors; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Highschool Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience; OCFS and UR Compliance Office Background Clearance for work with minors; commitment to ALL days of training and program without exception; flexibility within program time frames (sometimes as early as 2:30pm and as late as 7:30pm)
