Principal HSE Engineer (Technical Safety / HSE Design)

Job Overview: The Principal HSE Engineer (Technical Safety / HSE Design) is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. The Senior Principal HSE Engineer is considered a specialist in the field of HSE Engineering, and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the Engineering function. The Senior Principal HSE Engineer impacts the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and works within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal HSE Engineer role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to HSE Engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

Lead offshore large process intensive EPC projects; Ensure timely delivery of deliverables with required quality and within schedule; Develop creative and innovative solutions; Review and approve HSE & fire protection philosophies, safety study scopes, safety equipment lists, firefighting equipment specs, firewater demand calculations; Participate and coordinate safety workshops (HAZID/HAZOP); Direct large engineering team as Lead Engineer; Manage own time, forecast and plan resource requirements; Prepare estimates for bid proposals; Provide technical direction and review; Assist procurement; Provide leadership, mentoring, guidance to other Engineers

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering; 20+ years of experience in oil and gas; detailed knowledge of safety studies, loss prevention, design techniques and analysis methods especially for major large offshore projects; good working knowledge of safety simulation tools such as PHAST, Flaresim, SAFETI; good understanding of CFD analysis; knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills; good communication and presentation skills; demonstrated EPC Project Lead HSE Engineer experience

Nice to have

Preferably 15 years in offshore with major EPC contractors or consultants predominantly performing detail design; Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society; DETECT3
