Swim Instructor/Lifeguard

We are currently hiring multiple energetic Swim Instructors who have a passion for kids and the water. Ensures the safety of patrons of the Goldfish Swim School by preventing and responding to emergencies. Wears the required Goldfish Swim School Lifeguard uniform while on duty including PPE and a rescue tube.

Responsibilities

Making a difference in children's lives by teaching them life skills including swimming, diving, floating, treading water, building confidence, and celebrating each small success; Being fun and positive at all times; Providing continuous feedback to students and parents weekly after lessons; Ensuring swimmer safety during class and encouraging students to follow the 'Golden Safety Rules'; Attending paid in-service & training once per month outside regular working hours; Maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility and acting immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an accident or emergency; Communicating the rules of the facility to patrons fairly and consistently; Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services; Ensuring that medical services are contacted when necessary to respond to an emergency; Presenting professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintaining a high standard of customer service; Completing accident/incident reports as necessary; Maintaining a clean and safe facility as directed/assigned; Assisting with closing and securing the facility

Requirements

Must be able to work 2 shifts per week (min 8-10 hours) and be available 1 weekend day minimum; Willingness to learn and have FUN; Experience working with children; Ability to relate well to children, parents, team members, and have great communication skills; Must have or obtain AED/CPR/First Aid certifications as a condition of employment within 90 days; Shallow Water Lifeguard certification (Ellis preferred, Red Cross accepted); Required to attend monthly trainings to keep up with certifications; Outgoing and energetic personality; Friendly, positive attitude; Strong work ethic; Dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and well organized; Ability to multi-task; Focused on safety; Flexible and able to adapt to company growth and evolving responsibilities; Must be comfortable working with and around young children; Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required; Two or more years as a swimming instructor required; Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required

Nice to have

Previous swim instruction or swim coach experience preferred for teaching position, but not required; High school diploma or GED preferred; Swimming experience preferred; Shallow water attendant highly recommended
