Team Lead, Petsense

Overall Job Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the execution of operational, sales, and merchandising objectives by providing outstanding customer service. This position is also responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, as well as training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the execution of operational, sales, and merchandising objectives; Providing outstanding customer service; Promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors; Training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures; Maintaining regular and predictable attendance; Working scheduled shifts and varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime; Executing assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities; Performing opening/closing procedures; Transporting and making deposits to bank; Assessing store conditions and assigning duties; Organizing and prioritizing workflow through the daily planner; Recovery of merchandise; Participating in freight process; Performing regular and promotional price change activities; Executing Plan-o-gram procedures; Ordering live goods and store supplies in absence of SM or ASM; Resolving customer complaints/issues and ensuring the customer has a positive experience; Adhering to loss prevention standards and responding to alarm calls; Communicating with Team Members on job functions, responsibilities and financial goals; Operating cash register/computer supervising cash handling procedures; Ensuring cash drawers and vault is reconciled accurately daily; Assembling merchandise; Performing janitorial duties; Assisting customers with loading purchases; Ensuring the safety and well-being of live animals; Handling and caring for all live animals; Assisting in training new Team Members; Completing all documentation associated with job duties

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age; Possess a valid driver's license; Ability to read, write and count accurately; Be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented; Ability to work scheduled shifts and varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime; Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift; Ability to safely access all areas of the store; Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register; Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry; Ability to move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds; Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with assistance of proper material handling equipment; Ability to successfully complete all required training and certification; Ability to travel as required in support of district needs; Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs

Nice to have

Retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge; Supervisory experience; High school diploma or equivalent; Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict; Basic computer skills; Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members
