Behaviour Support Assistant

We’re looking for Behaviour Support Assistants to join a brand-new specialist school opening in Esher this September. The school will support pupils aged 7–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in creating a calm, consistent and supportive environment where pupils can feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.

Responsibilities

Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis; Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation; Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils; Work alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement individual support plans; Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, education, care or youth work; Confident supporting pupils with behaviours that may challenge; Calm, patient and resilient under pressure; Passionate about helping young people succeed, both academically and emotionally; Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa; Suitable references for pre-employment checks; Enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
