Assistant Manager - Oxley Tavern

Assistant Manager at the Oxley Tavern, one of southwest Brisbane's most dynamic, high-tempo venues. The venue uses a team-led management structure with multiple Assistant Managers instead of an isolated Duty Manager model. The role covers busy dinner rushes in Bob's Diner, major fight night trade in the sports bar, and gaming and late-night floor operations. This is a hands-on role involving manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties, such as moving stock, kegs, and deliveries. Candidates must complete Employee Due Diligence checks, which may include a National Police Check.

Responsibilities

Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe; Share shift load and collaborate on floor strategy within a team of Assistant Managers; Drive standards together; Lead a team of hospitality staff; Get to know the locals; Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches; Bring energy, service, and smiles every shift; Learn the ropes of being a Publican

Requirements

Current RSA/RSG; Current RMLV; Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements; Ability to perform manual handling and lifting safely and efficiently; Experience around the bar, bistro, or gaming room

Nice to have

Previous supervising experience; Confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away; Willingness to learn, lead, and step up
