Echocardiogram Tech - PRN

Mercyhealth is an integrated health system serving northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin with seven hospitals, 85 primary and specialty clinics, and over 7,500 professionals. This Echocardiogram Tech position performs echocardiograms and related cardiac procedures, primarily in Adult Echo/Stress/TEE/Call Coverage with some pediatric work, at Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center - Lake Geneva, WI.

Responsibilities

Performs echocardiograms per standard imaging protocol, measures per ASE standards, and provides high quality safe patient care; Works consistently in Adult Echo/Stress/TEE/Call Coverage, which may include some pediatric; Recognizes arrhythmias and notifies physician when EKG reads are abnormal, including acute MI, complete heart block, wide QRS, tachycardia, or heart rate greater than 140; Assesses the quality of electrocardiographic and echocardiography recordings and corrects deficiencies when possible; Provides the physician with technical comments of diagnostic findings and reviews discrepancies; Documents patient and procedural information in the medical record, including patient history form, and ensures charges are complete with 98% accuracy; Educates patient and family about the procedure; Responds appropriately in emergency situations; Utilizes equipment according to procedures, reports equipment requiring repair, and manages related paperwork; Ensures inventories and medical supplies are ordered or staff are notified when supplies are low; Assists with orientation of new personnel and data collection for the SQI program; Attends at least 70% of department educational programs and staff meetings, attends mandatory in-services, and maintains current CPR certification

Requirements

Associate Degree and/or Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited program; Approved CPR/BLS required within 90 days; Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS within 1 year; Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring); Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check; Must be able to follow written/oral instructions; Must have good mathematical skills; Must have good interpersonal skills
