We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Piping Department to join the Engineering organization.
This leadership role involves managing the Piping Discipline - including engineers, designers, and lead engineers - and ensuring both technical excellence and efficient project execution across line and project structures.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing the right resources, competencies, tools, and workflows to support successful project delivery, proposal development, and site activities. Moreover, this role plays a key part in developing, guiding, and empowering team members.
Location: Kraków, Poland
Team located across Kraków and Frankfurt offices.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop piping engineers and designers; conduct performance reviews and set measurable objectives.
Build discipline know how and support recruitment aligned with current and future business needs.
Plan mid and long term staffing needs.
Allocate personnel to projects based on skills, availability, and project requirements.
Manage external or contract personnel when required to support short term resource demands.
Ensure technical governance within the discipline.
Drive standardization of tools, processes, workflows, and technical specifications across engineering centers.
Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and competitiveness.
Secure smooth interdisciplinary coordination within the Engineering organization.
Support proposals, project execution, and site operations.
Manage the cost center budget for the Piping Department.
Report directly to the Engineering Director.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or related field).
Extensive experience in Piping Engineering within the oil & gas, chemical, or energy sectors.
Strong understanding of EPC project execution.
Several years of experience in project and/or line management.
Broad understanding of interdisciplinary engineering dependencies.
Proven ability to develop talent, manage teams, and foster collaboration.
Strong communication, negotiation, and decision making skills combined with a proactive approach to driving change.
Very good command of English (spoken & written).
