Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care within scope of nursing practice and office setting; Documents all patient care/interactions in patient medical record; Participates in telephone triage, obtains clinically appropriate data/symptoms, advises/instructs patients per protocols/orders; Ensures ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked/logged and provider receives results; Pre-visit planning with provider and care team; Medication administration including injections; Checks vital signs, height, weight; Assists with reviewing medication history and updating medication list; May assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements; Assists providers during procedures/examinations and performs instrument and room clean-up; Utilizes standard precautions and complies with policies, OSHA, CLIA, TJC, DFS standards; Reports patient's condition and reaction to provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments; Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization; Participates in electronic documentation of care; May enter orders in EMR (CPOE) per provider order; Completes CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing including Point of Care testing; Performs Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care lab procedures; Performs venipuncture, may assist with specimen collection, completes lab requisitions, prepares specimens; Provides patient with Depart Summary and review at end of visit; Responsible for vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, state Immunization Registry (NCIR) and SC DHEC regulations, monitoring inventory of clinical supplies

Requirements

Licensed Practical Nurse with current license to practice in applicable state (dependent on the practice's physical location) required; Graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing required; BLS required per policy guidelines; Must speak, read, and write Basic English fluently; Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies; Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch; Manual finger dexterity
