Machine Operator - 1st & 2nd Shifts

The Machine Operator must be willing and capable of learning all aspects of spiral weld pipe manufacturing. The Operator must have the ability to collaborate with the team while possessing the aptitude to collect data and independently make good decisions in real time based on those facts. The Operator must be self-motivated with the leadership skills to inspire others and have the perceptive skills to identify inconsistencies in product and equipment and develop solutions for them. Having an uncompromising commitment to safety is a requirement. Training on specific equipment and processes will be provided. This position is open to both 1st and 2nd Shifts.

Responsibilities

Review work orders or take direction from the leadership team to determine what jobs are required and in what order to run them; Assist the leader in the set-up of the machine; Verify that all positions have been checked and are ready to start; Ensure machine is kept running by observing and correcting problems that arise; Monitor quality of alignment and weld process, pipe specifications, cement lining, and application of coating; Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to machinery and equipment, referring electrical and hydraulic problems to the maintenance department; Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality; Adhere to all safety rules and bring safety issues to the attention of department leadership or the safety manager; Follow all work procedures, policies, and protocols; Perform other tasks instructed by the leadership team

Requirements

Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations; Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Able to read, write, and interpret simple documents and instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees and members of leadership; Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Able to compute ratio and percent and interpret bar graphs; Able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers; Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists; Able to read, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; Able to operate a computer-controlled hydrostatic test stand, including reading console indicators and gauges and using the control console to conduct tests; Able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English; Willingness to rotate to different positions as requested by manager or team leader; Willing and capable of learning all aspects of spiral weld pipe manufacturing; Ability to collaborate with the team, collect data, and independently make good decisions in real time; Self-motivated with leadership skills to inspire others; Perceptive skills to identify inconsistencies in product and equipment and develop solutions; Uncompromising commitment to safety; Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear regularly; Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently; Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance occasionally; Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds; Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
