Phlebotomist/Lab Support Tech I - Milford Regional, Inpatient - 24 hours, Evenings

The Lab Support Tech I cordially greets and receives patients, ascertains their needs, and appropriately directs them. This role includes computer and telephone use, clerical duties, and performing phlebotomy procedures, including blood cultures, EKGs, breath tests, MRSA and COVID swabbing.

Responsibilities

Collects blood samples using appropriate venipuncture techniques across all age groups; Follows departmental protocols for sample collection; Receives, labels, prioritizes, transports and redistributes specimens; Maintains a clean and organized drawing station or cart; Registers courier-delivered specimens; Orders tests accurately using hospital information systems; Answers and transfers calls and ensures coverage for incoming calls; Performs heel sticks and PKU collections; Provides coverage for home draws, secretarial duties, and drawing stations; Performs emergency room support duties; Applies knowledge of growth and development stages to patient care

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; Valid driver's license; Phlebotomy training (preferred); ASCP certification or eligibility (preferred); Phlebotomy experience (preferred); Computer and keyboard proficiency (preferred); Fluent English communication skills (preferred)
