Phlebotomy Technician, PRN

Responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing blood and other patient specimens while ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and adherence to safety protocols. Supports patient registration, laboratory order entry, specimen handling, and timely delivery of samples while providing professional patient care and assisting with daily laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Collect, label, and process blood and other patient specimens; Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen integrity; Adhere to safety protocols and infection control practices; Perform patient registration, payment collection, and data entry of demographic and insurance information; Transfer patient test requests into the HIS and laboratory computer systems; Resolve unusual or unclear test orders; Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collections; Receive, accession, centrifuge, and deliver specimens; Drive laboratory vehicle to client sites, patient homes, or facilities for specimen collection; Perform limited waived testing and quality control procedures; Assist with inventory and supplies; Assist with orientation, training, and mentorship of phlebotomy staff

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or previous phlebotomy experience preferred; Phlebotomy Certification preferred; Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to have

Experience as a Paramedic, EMT, CNA or MA helpful
