Security Guard - Part Time

Safeguard properties, deter criminal activity, and ensure the safety of businesses, construction sites, and residential communities. The role requires vigilance, strong decision-making, and excellent communication skills to handle security incidents effectively. The site may experience occasional interaction with unhoused individuals who pass through or attempt to use facility amenities. Officers complete hourly patrol tours and hourly activity logs. It is a large property requiring a lot of walking. This is a union site, so officers must follow all union requirements. Shifts: Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 PM - 1:00 AM, 16 hours per week, with opportunity for additional shifts.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine patrols to monitor and secure designated locations; Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, and unauthorized access; Maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and ensure public safety; Respond swiftly to incidents and provide support in emergency situations; Document daily activity, incidents, and observations accurately in reports; Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding security updates and concerns; Complete hourly patrol tours and hourly activity logs covering the full site

Requirements

Valid BSIS Guard Card (required); Current with BSIS Compliance; 8-Hour Initial Training Certificate; 32-hour continuing education certificates; Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor; Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs; Ability to remain alert, responsive, and proactive in high-pressure situations
