Slitter Operator - Nights

Slits printed rolls from the press or Extruder to individual rolls as per customer specifications. Material being slit is inspected for quality/defects and finished rolls are palletized for shipment to the customer.

Responsibilities

Facilitate on the job training and instruction for team members on the correct use of tools and equipment to ensure proper safety and operating procedures are followed; Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements; Set up machine; Use lowboy to mount full rolls onto machine; Observe machine operation to detect material defects or machine malfunction; Measure material dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation; Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling/greasing machines and changing female knives; Prepare required paperwork, including daily production reports, SPC charting, roll tickets and inventory tags; Complete work orders when necessary; Actively participate in safety programs, make safety observations, and follow plant safety rules; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or GED; one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs; close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
