Transformation Project Automation Lead- API

The Operations Transformation organization's mission is to accelerate future-ready Operations through purposeful transformation and drive excellence through new technology and enhanced cross-functional collaboration. The Strategic Capital Deployment team leads AbbVie Operations' long-term strategic investments and investment roadmaps, while executing large-scale capital projects through optimized delivery, technology adoption, and cross-functional collaboration. The Transformation Project Automation Lead will lead the project Automation sub-team on a Strategic Capital Project, accountable to the Project Director, responsible for driving the schedule, execution, risk management, and reporting for the team. The role will identify and develop automation technologies and Manufacturing control systems to improve site productivity and quality and safety performance, acting as the technical lead for automation development and the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for new and existing Manufacturing control systems.

Responsibilities

Provides daily leadership to the Project Engineering department, including personnel management, training management, department organizational structure and project management; Lead the project strategic planning of next fiscal year capital plan; Administer and lead the annual site capital plan and department budget; Deliver capital plan last best estimates (LBE) as per the established frequency by finance and project accounting; Makes difficult decisions regarding priorities between projects and is responsible for achieving project and capital plan financial targets; Administer asset management, project lifecycle, and energy sustainability programs; Drive the site capital long range plan from development to submission; Assure fulfillment of corporate policies and procedures and compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements; Ensure required engineering and commissioning documents are filed in the Technical Library and the drawing (CAD) repository is up to date; Responsible for capital project definition, request capital expenditure (RCE) development, engineering cost estimate, design, project plan integration, construction, and compliance with commissioning and qualification requirements; Drive the project automation sub-team schedule, execution, risk management, and reporting; Identify and develop automation technologies and manufacturing control systems to improve site productivity, quality and safety performance; Act as technical lead for automation development and site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for new and existing manufacturing control systems

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence; desired 10+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience; post-graduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desired years of experience; Strong Engineering lead role experience in the Biopharma industry; Demonstrated consistent technical contributions and accomplishments; Significant contribution to product or process development or improvement is equally recognized; Able to interact and communicate with Senior Management and other groups within AbbVie engineering; Maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborators; Demonstrated competency with financial systems and in fiscal control; Computer literate including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Outlook), AutoCAD, SAP, among others; Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations; Possesses strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures; Works on problems of complex scope and exercises judgment and advises management on appropriate actions
